NEWSFLASH

Sometime before December I am going to have the third mohawk of my career. Unfortunately, CheddarTed will not be cutting it, as I plan on getting it done professionally. While I have yet to decide on the exact type of hawk I will be getting, the rug seems to be on top of my list.

I went to this extremely religious synagogue for the sabbath services earlier today in order to celebrate the upcoming marriage of one of my cousins. Once everyone poured out of the gender separated room to the kiddish, (event where jews eat a lot for any possible reason like birth, bar miztvah, past bar mitzvah, wedding, and so on) I realized something. There was a nice amount of cuties just a few years younger than my twenty years of age. This fact has led me to never rule out the possibilty of an arranged marriage circa 2011.

Mini-vans only exist to be slow, sucky, and annoying, contrary to what car makers tell you. When you see one on the road it can only mean a slow mom driving with children screaming in the back and please go faster or I'm going to pass you as fast as I possibly can. While they do provide a lot of space, it isn't even that much more space than a nice station wagon or SUV. One could argue that they get good mileage, but gas mileage isn't even a real stat, so who cares what people think about that.

I'm itching to watch the new FX show "Over There." I usually am not a fan of weekly shows, but this one looks like it could be good. I was quite empressed with FX's "30-days" and also love "24." Hopefully this new show lives up to 50% of what I want it to be.

Today marks three important countdowns in my life.

1) The one week countdown till the end of my internship at Fox Sports International.
2) The 5 day countdown till the Trade Deadline and NHL free-agent signing period.
3) The 8 day countdown for my South American ski trip.

I can't really say which one I am most excited for, as all will bring fourth great things.

But in reality, I'd say its a tie between 2 and 3. I'm looking for an opportunity to be happy from anything related to the Dodgers or another opportunity to yell at Depodesta.

I also really love anywhere that they speak spanish. So combine Spanish and skiing, and I'm really set.

Fast Food

It might be the worst thing in the world. Although I am severly limited to what I can eat by the rules of kashrut, it still pains me to eat at these places. Just watching people eat greasy burgers and fries is horrible. Everytime I have a grilled cheese or Filet o Fish I see months taken off of my life calendar. The worst part of these places is when I see obese people eating like obese people. It begs the question, why would you ever eat from one of these chains, when you can make a nice sandwich from your local supermarket?

Over the past few days I have listened to some real throwback music like the Smashing Pumpkins, the Offspring, and Third Eye Blind. (Speaking of which, Adore is such an underrated album. Obviously, its no Melon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, but it really puts up a strong fight.) One reason is that it really brings me back to when I was on top of my game circa, 1995-1999. Now I feel as though I'm a young duckling, who couldn't keep up with the rest of the train of ducks. The other reason I like this music is just that it's soooo good.

I'm happy to report that my bout with a myserious Amazonian virus is nearing its end. No longer will I have headaches, stomach aches, and long periods of fatigue. To fight off ths illness, I rested a lot and ate a nice amount of chicken soup. I feel like I'm at around 85% percent. I should be off of the DL sometime tomorrow.

In honor of Tiger's British Open victory, I played a little Tiger Woods 2005 today. It was the first time I had gamed since early June and boy did it feel good. I played two rounds and did incredibly well in both cases. First, I shot a 63 at Sherwood without even warming up. Then I coasted to a 4 & 3 match play victory over Stuart Appleby at the Old Course at St. Andrews. Both rounds are much better than I can come to close to in real life, as my best all time round was an 86, and I usually shoot in the low 90's.

This brings me to my point of the day. Why I love gaming so much.
With video games you can really accomplish anything in the world. If you like shooting games like Grand Theft Auto, you can murder people with chainsaws, shoot the police with bazookas , and perform illicit acts with prostitutes. In sports games, you can also achieve your dreams. One can play at St. Andrews and Pebble Beach. You can make the PENN Quakers a perennial power in College Basketball. You can make a Dodger team have Albert Pujols, Vlad Guerrero, and Richie Sexson all at the same time. Another possibility is managing a lowly football team from the First Division like Nottingham Forest, and winning promotion to the English Premiership. The reason I have such good examples, is because I accomplished everyone of these feets in the past year of gaming. And that is why I love gaming so much.

Delta Airlines and me just never get along when it comes to domestic flights. Today they cancelled my LAX to JFK flight ruining what was to be a perfect weekend of steak eating, seeing old friends and family, and watching los dojers at Shea. Maybe I would have even gone on a long walk with Cheddar Ted. But it was not to be as Delta Flight 2071 had some serious mechanical problems. This leads to a bigger issue between me and the airline.

Since the begining of the year, I have been delayed or cancelled on 6 out of 11 of my domestic Delta flights. That's a .545 winning percentage which certainly makes the playoffs in the NL West. The delays ranged anywhere from 30 minutes between Salt Lake City and LA to 7 hours between Atlanta and Philadelphia, the two throwback jersey capitals of the free world. The best part of these delays is the many hours sipping lemonade and having snack mixes in the Crown Room.

Contrast this with my International Delta flights and flights on its carriers, Air France and El Al. Not once was I delayed in the past 18 months. What can this be attributed to?? America is apparently the land of the consumer, so that can't be it. Perhaps part of my streak of delays comes purely from bad luck. That would be pretty unlucky.

I consider myself a pretty even temperred guy, so I take the delays in stride and actually gain some enjoyment from them. There are not many things that bring me more joy than fat Americans yelling at employees like its their fault that there's a thunderstorm in Cleveland.

Here's to you blog: May this be a long voyage into the sea of blogging.
